| G R O U P Projects! |
|
Each year the Golden Horseshoe Woodcarvers have a few groups(of 5 to 10 carvers), led by an experienced carver, carving a specific project. Members can choose which group they would like to be a part of. The lead carver picks a subject, supplies the wood blank (for a charge to the carvers), and then demonstrates and assists as the carvers work with a pattern to carve the subject.
Some previous projects have been caricatures, canes and walking sticks, birds of different species, painting techniques, and more. |
| I N D E P E N D E N T Projects! |
| Some carvers prefer to bring a carving that they have been working on. These carvers choose a table at which to sit, and work away independently. Hand tools and / or small power tools can be used. When carvers use power tools, they are asked to all work in one area to minimize the noise and dust in other areas. Please use appropriate safety measures, such as wearing a mask and an air filter. |
| C W C Youth Program! |
|
The Youth Program, associated with the Canadian Woodcarving Championship, encourages youth to come to the Golden Horseshoe Carving Club to learn the skill of woodcarving. The youth MUST be accompanied by an adult who is entirely responsible for that youth. Instruction and guidance will be given to the youth by experienced carvers. |
